Here’s the story. I wrote Wild Animal on piano, and then we produced it into an electronic soundscape that really bangs (as you’ve heard!). But I always had this feeling that we could have gone another way with our production choices. I didn’t want to leave myself dissatisfied, so last summer Alex, Anwar, and I began a reimagining. First we stripped it all naked back to its piano and vocal roots. Then we brought on Jonathan Dreyfus to craft the dreamiest strings. Anwar Sawyer wrote and performed a piano piece to end all piano pieces (and dubbed it Opus 1). I recorded brand new vocals, and we transported Alex Tanas to Porto where we tied a bow on the beauty.
